QR Codes turn our employee ID cards into personal digital business cards - GDPR-compliant and implemented with the expertise of an Austrian QR platform. This puts us and our employees on the safe side.

Classic paper business cards have some disadvantages and often look outdated. Changes such as telephone numbers or position changes require both work and reprints. After making contact, business cards have to be manually transferred to a system and therefore often end up unused in drawers or in the trash.
Gewista, one of Austria's largest media companies and market leader in the out-of-home segment, was looking for a solution to speed up and modernize the contact process as part of the introduction of new employee ID cards.
The aim was to simplify and digitize the exchange of contact data in the long term and at the same time increase the visibility of the brand among potential customers and cooperation partners.
With the QR Code platform from QR Planet, Gewista was not only able to convert the company to digital business cards. The entire process - from creation to data maintenance - was centralized and simplified.
In addition to design and quality, digital business cards are also easy to use. They therefore not only save costs, but also make a sustainable contribution to conserving resources.

From paper to pixels: How QR Codes are replacing classic business cards
A digital business card is a landing page that contains contact details and business information and can be supplemented with additional content, such as a link to social media channels on LinkedIn or Instagram. The contact details can be easily shared at any time, saved in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and exchanged with any smartphone, regardless of the manufacturer.
Gewista, part of the global market leader JCDecaux, is the market leader in the out-of-home sector in Austria with its subsidiaries Infoscreen, Megaboard and Kulturformat in Vienna, USP in Upper Austria and Progress Werbung in Salzburg, Tyrolia and Vorarlberg.
More than 350 employees are in daily contact with business partners. Gewista now relies on high-quality QR Codes and digital business cards from QR Planet.
Each employee receives a personal, dynamic QR Code on their employee ID card that links directly to their digital business card. The QR Codes and the landing pages are adapted to the corporate design.

Digital business cards can be saved directly on the iPhone at any time and are therefore available with a single tap - even offline.
This saves time when networking and ensures a professional appearance, whether at trade fairs, customer meetings or events.
Digital business cards from Gewista in the Apple Wallet Thanks to the flexible integration options at QR Planet, contact data can be easily imported, whether via CSV files, directly from the HR system (e.g. Bamboo, Zoho) or automatically via Microsoft Entra ID (Active Directory).
Exporting also works seamlessly: collected contacts can be transferred directly to CRM systems such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Zoho or Mailchimp.
New employees are automatically integrated, while existing contacts remain up-to-date. Efficient and GDPR-compliant.
Why Gewista relies on QR Codes
For this article, Petra Atabay, Personal Assistant to COO at Gewista and instrumental in the implementation, spoke to us about the introduction of digital business cards and the use of QR Codes in the company.
Where and how do you use QR Codes?
With the move to a new office, our employees have received new access cards, which are also an employee ID card. We use the QR Codes on this card, which lead to the respective personal digital business card.
Compliance with all GDPR-relevant aspects and thus the certainty that data security is guaranteed was decisive for the cooperation with QR Planet. The fact that it is an Austrian company was also convincing.
