Static QR Codes

Simple, direct and permanently usable.

Anatomy of a static QR Code

With a static QR Code, the target URL is encoded directly and never expires. So when you scan a static QR Code, you are redirected to the target URL without any additional intermediate links in between. This ensures that the QR Code remains valid and works as long as the target URL is online. However, there are two major disadvantages to using static QR Codes:

  • Youdo not receive any statistics on who scanned the QR Code where and when.
  • You can no longer change the destination URL once you have printed the QR Code!

So if the target URL is broken or unavailable, the QR Code will no longer work.

We recommend that you use dynamic QR Codes. You can change the target URL at any time after printing if the target URL is defective.

Static QR Code types

In addition to URLs in static QR Codes, there are also other static QR Code types. If you create a static QR Code, you can pack all the information into the QR Code itself. When you scan the QR Code, depending on the type of QR Code, your mobile device can process the information, e.g. create an event or add a contact to your address book. No internet connection is required unless you want to synchronize your event or contact with the cloud.

There are various standardized types of static QR Codes, which are explained below. You can create these types of QR Codes yourself by clicking on the individual codes or by going directly to our free QR Code generator.

Text QR Code

With a text QR Code, you can save simple messages or information directly in the QR Code. After scanning, the content is immediately displayed on the smartphone.

Text QR Codes are perfect for short notes, product information, WLAN access data, voucher codes, personal messages or internal processes. As all data is stored directly in the QR Code, the code also works offline and remains permanently available.

Depending on the content and character set, up to 4,296 characters can be stored in a single QR Code.

vCard QR Code

If you want to print a QR Code on your business card, you should use a vCard. A QR Code with an encoded vCard provides contact information that can be added to the phone's address book immediately after scanning.

The same applies here: as soon as your address changes, you must recreate the QR Code with the updated address data. However, you can also create QR Codes that lead to digital business cards and allow you to change the contact details even after printing.

Event QR Code

With an event QR Code, people can add your event directly to their calendar with just one scan. The date, time, location and other event details are automatically transferred so that no manual entries are required.

Event QR Codes are ideal for concerts, trade fairs, webinars, meetings, corporate events or private events. Once scanned, the event can be saved immediately in the smartphone calendar, automatically reminding participants of the event.

As all event information is stored directly in the QR Code, the event QR Code also works without an additional website or internet connection.

Call QR Code

With a call QR Code, users can call a telephone number immediately with just one scan. After scanning, the phone function of the smartphone opens automatically with the number already stored so that the call can be started directly.

Call QR Codes are ideal for support hotlines, restaurants, hotels, doctors' surgeries, delivery services or company websites where quick contact is important. Especially on flyers, business cards, packaging or shop windows, they enable simple and convenient communication without having to enter the telephone number manually.

Since the phone number is stored directly in the QR Code, the call QR Code works quickly and easily on almost any modern smartphone.
